PowerPoint for Mac

I've exported/downloaded survey data from on online survey app (Alchemer) as a PowerPoint. In PowerPoint 365 for mac, I customized the chart formatting (chart type, text styles/sizes, and colors). I then saved this as a template per these instructions (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/save-a-custom-chart-as-a-template-259a5f9d-a9ec-4b3f-94b6-9f5e55187f2a) which resulted in a crtx file in my library. However when I applied this template to a subsequent chart in the same PowerPoint, the only attributes that were applied were the chart type and colors. The data in the labels is replaced with "Add Text" and an Excel spreadsheet opens in the background. I now have to manually format each chart. It's such a tedious waste of time. I also noticed that nowhere in the Format Data sidebar or tools is there a way to globally modify the type style or size. But I CAN give labels a snappy glow or gradient fill (??).

Is there a way to save/import a template that includes chart type, font style, color, and size? This seems like a much more relevant feature than glows and 3-D effects.

I am using a MacBook Pro, OS 12.6.1, PowerPoint for Mac v. 16.67.

    Hi

I was not able to reproduce the issue you described. My chart templates behave as expected.

Can you provide an example PowerPoint file and the .crtx file you generated from it? Make sure there's no personal or confidential information, then upload the files to a share service such as OneDrive or DropBox and share the link here.

It could be the steps you're taking to make or apply the chart template aren't just right, but it would really help to have an example we can work on together.

    Dear TNye,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Per the description shared, I would like to summarize your concern i.e., you have saved a chart as a template, and when you try to use the template of the chart, only the chart type and colors are applied.

If my understanding is correct, I would like to let you know that as per our test the chart template is saving only the chart type, fill color, and outline; moreover, it seems there are no additional options to save the font style, font size, etc.

In this situation, I suggest you add your feedback in the PowerPoint · Community (microsoft.com) which is the best way to improve Microsoft products.

In addition, I will keep this thread open so PowerPoint experts and MVPs can share their ideas on your requirement.

    Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Mia | Microsoft Community Moderator
