Windows Server 2016 does not set file locking properly

Hi, Did this get resolved? We have the same problem. Once a Word or Excel document is open it is not locked for editing by others, is it always used to be. Sharing is not turned on as our Mac Server shares the files. It should be possible to disable the 'co-authoring' feature when not using a MS server.

This issue is having a major impact on our business as Excel spreadsheets are being edited by multiple users and the changes made are randomly saved.

If you open the 'Share Workbook Legacy Tab' the workbook shows as not being activated so surely the document should lock subsequent users.

A side effect of this is that when the Workbook is open a folder appears on the server. When the second user opens the workbook another folder appears. When both users close the Workbook the folders remain. These are folders NOT temp files ie those that start with ~$

What updates have been applied to the Windows server?

    Hi

The question you replied to specified the problem was with Window server 2016 and you said your setup was the same, which is why I asked about what version of Windows Server you have.

However, the analogous question still arises: what version of Mac OS server are you running? Is it fully up to date?

Hi Jim, The server is a MacOS server not windows. It works perfectly with old Office 2016 and 2011 users. I need to re-instate the message that tells users when the the file is in use that it cant be edited.
