Old word format

hello I have a folder with 1500 word documents.

All of these are in the old file compatibility format. Is there a way for me to update all of these at once? Rather than going to the file tab > info > Compatibility

Thank you!

I recommend a backup because sometimes the conversion makes some surprising changes in formatting. If the document as converted does not look right, you can always open the backup and work from that.

Hi Angel, I have hundreds of .doc files. They open in compatibility mode and convert without any problem. I would not advise backing up on the basis of any problem with converting them, BUT I would advise backing up as a matter of course. And, OneDrive is not a backup (Not meant for you but for any other reader that thinks OneDrive is a backup).

Those utilities will do what you want.

I would recommend backups, though, first.

    No method out-of-the-box.

    A macro is possible.

Are these .doc files or simply older .docx files?

    See:

Both of those have options to convert all documents in a folder to the latest version.
