Installing Office 2013

I've recently bought a new laptop (Windows 11). I have a 2013 version of office which I want to install on to the new laptop.

I have downloaded the files. However, whenever I go to install it I receive a pop-up saying I have a newer version installed which is supposedly 'HomeStudentRetail'. I have uninstalled both the office and 365 trial apps with which the laptop came and when I check with Windows PowerShell (as instructed here: Uninstall Office from a PC (microsoft.com)) it seems to say that Office is not installed.

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?

Edit: I've also found 3 additional references to MS Office in the Registry Editor. I've run the uninstall strings for all of them. However, it only seems to have got rid of two. For the third, when I run the string it just stays sitting there.

    Hi Benjamin,

I’m Bambi and I’ll be happy to help you with your question.

You may have a license pre-activated on your computer. Did your computer come with one?

Also kindly sign in to account.microsoft.com

Navigate to the services and subscriptions tab and see if you have any other Office license asides the Office 2013.

I look forward to your response.

    Best Regards,
    Bambi
