OneNote unresponsive- Error: E0001460

Upon starting OneNote, I created a new page and began taking notes. A few minutes later I received a notification stating, "You no longer have permission to add or view changes to this notebook with (Microsoft account email). We'll sync again if permissions are restored."

The error code that I am getting is E001460. The page is unable to sync and currently in read-only mode. Draw controls have become unresponsive and no changes are able to be made.

Any idea on how to fix this issue?

I had exactly the same problem. Although the error message said that I did not have permissions for this notebook, only one section in the notebook was affected, all the others were fine (all pages in the section had the problem). Logging into office.com allowed me to access the cloud version and make changes, including changes to the buggy section. The changes were sync'ed to the iPad in all sections except the buggy one.

I was able to solve the problem by uninstalling OneNote and reinstalling it.

P.S.: when I first logged into office.com, I couldn't access the OneNote backups, I got an error saying that the servers were down. When I tried later again it worked and I got the result described above. Maybe trying to change that notebook while the servers were down trigged the bug?

    Hello Isaiah Brown,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Based on the category you selected, did this happen to you using OneNote on your iPad?

It is recommended that you try to create a new notebook. Your error may be that the permissions of a specific notebook are lost, so it is recommended that you create a new notebook to test whether the problem still exists.

In addition, it is recommended that you check whether your OneNote has an update, and if so, please update to the latest version to see if this problem still occurs.

You can also try to log out of your OneNote application account, and then log in again to see if the problem still exists. Before logging out of your account, please log in to the OneNote web page to ensure that all your notes exist. You can also choose to back up your notes to avoid data loss.

We need to go through a series of steps to find the true cause of the problem. If the steps above don't solve your problem, please let me know and I will continue to help you with the problem.

    Sincere greetings
