SUMIF not returning the correct value?

Here is the formula I wrote and what it is returning. It returns 3 and I was expecting 9 and I'm not sure what is wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

    This works =SUMIF(A5:C9,"ado2",D5:F9) if the data range is...

    Note the criteria range is the same size as the sum range.

    This works using an array formula on your original data...

    {=SUM(IF(A5:A9="ado2",B5:D9,"n/a"))}
