sharepoint - unable to edit a MS document (excel, word, Power point) in "desktop app mode".

when in sharepoint - I am unable to edit a MS document (excel, word, Power point) in "desktop app mode".
When I open the document and want to edit using the desktop app mode, it prompts me to introduce the account email (which I have done correctly) and then an ERROR message appears "Cannot download the information you requested" " we have opened your presentation in PowerPoint for the Web".

Note: I have done all Microsoft updates that I had available.
Note that this issue only became real probably 1 month ago - until there I was able to edit any MS document in "desktop app mode"

    Dear Joao MPB

Good day! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Based on your description, it seems that when you open the Microsoft documents in SharePoint and click Open in desktop , you will got the error message and you can't open the files in desktop app mode.

If this is your scenario, please go to SharePoint document library>**Settings>Library settings>More library settings>Advanced settings>**In Offiline Client Availablity>Make sure you checked the box of Allow items from this document library to be downloaded to offline clients? to Yes

Meanwhile, if the behavior still esists, to help you better and moving forward, we would like to collect more detailed information about the situation you are experiencing. Please kindly share with us the information below:

    1. Does all sites in sharepoint have the same behavior? To narrown down the behavior is related to SharePoint or Office desktop apps, please try to change to a different site then open the files in desktop to check the behavior. Please kindly also try to change to a different browser or use inprivate window to see the outcome.
    2. Can you open the files directly in office desktop or in File explorer?
    3. Does other users experienced the same situation with the files?
    4. Can you tell us your Office apps product information> You can open an app, such as Excel>File>Account then share the screenshot to us.
    5. Did you do any actions what maybe caused this behavior? Such as library permissions?

We’re looking forward to your reply and will continue to help you all the time!  If there are any misunderstanding or unclear, you can post back in your free time.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Sincerely,
