Installation problems

I tried to install Office 365 directly from my Office online profile while logged in with my university e-mail (I have a license for Office 365). I have tried multiple times, but for some reason, I always end up installing Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019, which I don't have a license for, so I can't use any of the Office apps. I have already contacted my university tech support team, but they were no help at all. Does anyone know what the issue is here?

    Dear John Paul_2039,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

First of all, please go to the control panel to check the copy of Office you installed(Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features), you can completely uninstall the version you don't need here.

After uninstalling, please use the OLicenseCleanup.vbs and the signoutofwamaccounts.ps1 to reset Microsoft 365 Apps activation state. OLicenseCleanup.vbs is used to reset Office activation of unmanaged devices; Signoutofwamaccounts.ps1 is used to clear all WAM accounts associated with Office on the device.

At last, please log in to your Office Portalto check your subscription status, then follow the steps in this document to download and install to see if it works:Download and install or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2021 on a PC or Mac

If the problem persists we also want to know the following:

    • Has this device been logged into another account?
    • Does this happen when you activate your account, that is, you download the Office 365 version subscription, but it becomes 2019 after activation?
    • Screenshot of your subscription information page.

    Hope this will help you.

    Sincerely,

    Tin | Microsoft Community Moderator
