Transient error GoogleContactClientTransientException has occurred. The system will retry.

Hello Guys,

Mine is not a technical issue but rather a solution I found related to an issue I was experiencing while migrating some users from Google Workspace to M365. I kept getting a Failed status message on all the batches. The most frustrating part of this was that there was no error being shown at the end of it all. But on reviewing the migraton reports, I found the error "Transient error GoogleContactClientTransientException has occurred. The system will retry (43/60, 110/767)." I re-initiated the migration a couple of times but was still getting the same error.

So I decided to review all the APIs on the Google side and when I opened up Contacts API, I saw a message under Overview that says "This API is no longer being developed further. Please consider migrating to the People API instead." On opening the People's API I realized that it was not enabled. Based on my previous experience with this type of migration, I would only enable the Contacts API and the migration would work okay. But somehow, this time around it did not.

I am happy to say that once I enabled the People's API everything worked fine and the migration did not fail not even a single time.

I hope this helps many out there who are or might experience the same issue.
