Delete Multilevel Lists (not list styles)

I wish to delete some unused multilevel lists (not styles). In the screenshot below,, this would be "Lists in the Current Documents". This is not the same as a list style, which relates to: https://shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/numbering20072010.html, and is what seems to the usual reply I find online when searching how to delete multilevel lists.

I have lots of mulitlevel lists in my document (potentially >1000), which I wish to remove and replace with the one list style shown in the screenshot. Said list style is similar to one of the default numbering lists, but with the symbols slightly changed. The number of lists is bad to the point that the Word document will freeze indefinitely if a new list (multilevel list or list style) is used. This is an issue for one specific Word document used, though it occurs on both a Microsoft and Mac computer.

The only way that I could get rid of all of the lists in the document was by saving it as a pdf file and then opening the pdf file and saving it as a Word document.

Word crashed every time I tried to copy everything except for the final paragraph mark in the document so I suspect that there was something other issue with the document.

You should link each level of the list that you want to use to a paragraph style (such as Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, etc.) and then apply the relevant styles to the text in your document that you want to be numbered.

This leads to the same issue of freezing indefinitely, and is one of the reasons why I was wishing to delete multiple mulitlevel lists instead of trying to change the styles whilst ignoring the lists.

If you send me a copy of the document, referencing this thread in the covering email message, I will investigate the issue.
