I opened and am trying to edit an existing document but the highlighter is not working properly. It won't let me choose any of the colors and has my document in a maroon color. How do I fix? thanks.

Is Track Changes enabled in the document? In that case, you may see color coding for edits made in the text.

Does this only happen with the same document, what happens if you try the highlighter on another document?
