Microsoft Project cannot open the file

Hi

I use MSP often, daily. I am using MSP 2016, lately when I save it and come back to it 3 hours later it says Microsoft Project cannot open the file. I end up loosing my work in the result. It has happened twice already. I do not know the root cause of the problem? please advise. thanks

    From your description it sounds like the file is corrupt. Are you saving locally or to a remote server? Operating a Project file over a network is susceptible to network glitches.

    Is the file a single Project file or does it have links to other files (e.g. part of master/subproject, resource pool/sharer, paste links, etc.)? Linked structures in Project are prone to corruption.

    If you have a backup for your file I suggest you open it, save as XML, and then open the XML file in Project. That often clears corruption but not always.
