Excel for Mac Help: Protect an Excel File These instructions tell me to 1) Select File > Info 2) Select the Protect Workbook box and choose Encrypt with Password. Ahhhh OK guys but only one problem: File > Info is NOT an available option for Office Home and Business 2021 version 16.65. Anybody know where to go to find "Info", or should I be looking for something else??

Although the information supplied by Waqas Muhammed is accurate it doesn't actually address the question you asked. Also, the instructions you were attempting to follow are for the Windows version pf the program.

In Excel for Mac you can use either of these 2 methods:

    • Go into either the Save or the Save As dialog then click the Options button in order to summon the File Passwords dialog then enter either a Password to Open or a Password to Modify, or
    • Go to File> Passwords in the main menu which summons the same File Passwords dialog

    Hi Tom,

Hopefully, I understand your question better than your source and Waqas.

Waqas explains various options for protecting a worksheet but unless I am mistaken, your question asked how to protect an Excel workbook file, not a worksheet.

Based on what you asked in your question, I think you might be after the way to require a password to open the file. That's found by using the Menu Bar and choosing the File menu > Save As dialog.

Click the Options button to display the Save Options dialog where you can enter a password to protect the workbook file.

Did I understand your question correctly?
