Feature No Longer Functioning Properly

Hi,

I am using Microsoft Office Small business 2007. Whenever I open a word document I get the following message.

Microsoft Office World 12.0

An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly.

Please run Setup and select "Repair" to restore this application.

                                                                                        OK

How do I do this? Where do I find SETUP and then REPAIR?

I appreciate that this is an old application and support is no longer available but hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

I am using Windows 11 and this application was transferred over from my old computer. This problem has only started to happen since I started using the new PC. I am not using Microsoft 365 although it is installed on my computer.

Regards Paddy

    Hi Suzanne,

Thank you for your speedy reply unfortunately neither of those options have resolved the problem.

It is just annoying that the application or the word document I want to open does not do so straight away. I have to go through the rigmarole of the computer saying it wants to install the application then says it wants to configure the application. But when I click on cancel these requests the application opens or the word document opens with no problem.

    Regards Paddy

The article at https://support.office.com/en-us/article/repair-an-office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b is what we would usually recommend, but it seems to apply to only Office 2010 and above. Since you are able to open your Word program, try this:

    1. Click the Office button (top left corner of the Word window) to open the Office menu.
    2. Click Word Options in the bottom right corner of the menu.
    3. On the menu, select Resources.
    4. On the Resources tab, click Diagnose.

If that doesn't help, you can try Start | Settings | Apps & Features, scroll to Office 2007 and select; choose Modify.
