Remove math from the equation builder

Hello,

Working on a product at the moment that involves math, a lot of math. we are planning on bringing our word docs into indesign. Currently any math in the equation builder does not pull into the document when loading the word doc via an import (which is required to assign text styles).

I have found the only way to get the math to escape out of the equation builder is to right click and go to services and convert to chinese (honestly found by accident when I was trying various things to see what would happen).

Is there a global way to tell the document to not show math in the equation builder and just as text?

Some sort of macro to break it the heck out of the equation builder?

I'm a designer, word is not my jam.

Also on a mac...

Please help

I believe he wants to extract the math from the equation field so it can be inserted as text.

I know how to copy/paste but it isn't efficient if many eq fields are invovved.

    Hi Dave,

I'm having trouble following your workflow, and it appears you tried several scenarios that did not accomplish your goal, but you didn't tell us what you tried.

What options have you specified for equations (Menu bar > Format > Equation Options)

Is it that you want to take away specific interface functionality from someone opening your Word document or from something else derived that you're making in InDesign?

Is there a specific reason you are not setting up your styles in Microsoft Word?

    Dear Dave Reid1

Good day! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Based on your description, it seems that you want to insert your Word document to the third-party software InDesign, but all the math in the equation builder can’t be pull into the document, so you want to hide or remove the math from the equation builder.

If my understanding is correct, we did many tests and we found it seems that there not a direct way can achieve this requirement. Maybe you can remove or hide the math in equation builder by VBA code.  Since our forum is focused on the question with office e365 products.
