OneNote sync issues

When I try to log in and sync OneNote, it gives me this error message, "The server you are trying to access is using an authentication protocol not supported by this version of Office"

I have Windows 10 and already tried logging out and signing back in. PLEASE HELP

Based on the description, you prompted with error message when trying to login to sync your OneNote. Apologies for the inconvenience caused to you by this behavior. Kindly ensure that your Office suites is updated.

Kindly try the steps below.

  1. Exit OneNote.
  2. Start Registry Editor. To do this, use one of the following procedures, as appropriate for your version of Windows.

Windows 10, Windows 8.1 and Windows 8: Press Windows Key + R to open a Run dialog box. Type regedit.exe and then click OK.

  1. In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following subkey in the registry: 

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity\

  1. On the Edit menu, click New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  2. Enter the name for the new DWORD value: EnableADAL
  3. Leave the value data of the EnableADAL DWORD value as 0.
  4. Exit Registry Editor.

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Edit at your own risk.
