Account Does Not Exist

I noticed when I tried to to create a new document using my student Microsoft account on my mac I got a message on the ribbon in word stating " Your account { insert account email} does not allow editing on Mac. To learn more, contact your admin about your Office Plan." Of course I went to check my student email to make sure I hadn't gotten a notification about an expired subscription so I'm good on that situation. The problem is, is when I went to log into my Microsoft account using my student account it says the account does not exist when I know it does because I still have the original verification email and pin from when I first created the account. I called customer support and of course no help. Can anyone provide any feedback on what is going on?

    Dear Halie,

As you are not able to sign in to your account, please try to reset the password if your IT admin has set the Self-Service Reset Password. If the IT admin didn't set the Self-Service Reset Password for the users in the organization, please contact your IT admin to reset your Office 365 Password.

Reference: I forgot the username or password for the account I use with Office (microsoft.com)

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

I am unable to log into the account to check if the license is available. How can I fix the log in issue? I have double and triple checked the username that is being entered. My Microsoft account worked fine up until yesterday when all of a sudden my account information is invalid and I haven't made any changes to my log in information

    Dear Halie,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Per the description shared, I would like to summarize your concern i.e., when you try to sign into the Office apps with your school account you get the prompt "Your account { insert account email} does not allow editing on Mac. To learn more, contact your admin about your Office Plan."

If my understanding is correct, I would like you to check whether you are having the license "The latest desktop version of Office" in the Office 365 Subscription provided by school.

Open a browser> Access this link: https://portal.office.com/account/?ref=MeControl > Enter your Office 365 account details provided by school> View Subscriptions> See whether the above mentioned license is present.

If the license is not present, it means you can use the Office 365 app in the web but not the desktop apps. If you want the desktop apps of Office, you need to contact the IT admin of the school to get the appropriate license. Reference: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?

If you have license and you are getting an error, please remove the Office apps previous activation license files and re-activate the Office apps. Reference: How to remove Office license files on a Mac (microsoft.com)

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,
