Excel Spreadsheet/Delete cells

I asked this question last night and I am still stuck. I received tutorials and feedback and I still can't get the problem right. The problem reads Delete B:12:C:14 do I highlight the areas which I tried and that did not work also after the cell has been deleted I need to shift cells up I cant get it to work and i've asked multiple people and they have tried I just cant win.

    Hi Mary. I am an Excel user like you.

    It is important to distinguish between deleting cells and deleting data. It appears that you are supposed to delete cells so that the information underneath is shifted up. to do this, select the cells to be deleted--B12:C14 according to your question. Then click on the Delete icon on the Home ribbon in the Cells section:

    Choose Delete Cells in the drop-down menu. In the Delete window select Shift cells up and then Click OK.

    That will delete the selected cells and anything that is in them and move up all of the cells under them to replace them.

    I have done multiple ways do you delete each individual cell or do you highlight B:12 down to C:14 I think somehow this is my problem I am so frustrated beyond words. I"m trying to learn.

    You should select all of the cells first and delete them all together. Sometimes particular keystrokes are required. As an alternative you can also select all of the cells A12:B14 and right click in the selection. Then choose Delete, select Shift cells up, and click OK.
