Excel file cannot save, cannot merge changes

Hi, I have a shared excel file that has displayed a message "Your file *** wasn't saved because we cannot merge changes made to Marcos by ***". How do we get around this? The file is accessed via sharepoint using online & the excel app.

The Macros were entered as an error when pressing Ctrl & Home on the laptop without function being selected. I've checked within Excel and there are no Macros there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Dear Kim_285,

Thanks for your reply and sharing the detailed information with us.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your time and effort to narrow down this behavior with us.

Under this scenario, we think the file may need to be checked directly on your side for further investigation.

As forum support we may not have enough permission and resource to directly check the environment on your side.

We notice you post this question in For business category, so we suppose you have Microsoft 365 for business subscription. In this situation, we sincerely recommend you contact your Microsoft 365 administrator, follow steps in this article and try to create a support ticket to contact Online Support. The support team over there has higher permission than us, they can remotely help check the situation on your side and help you do troubleshooting. This would be a more efficient way in handling this case for you.

For reference: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation! Have a good day.

    Sincerely,

It's an xlsx file and there is too much content to copy across, this cannot be saved into a new workbook as we have loads of files using this for a vlookup.

    Thank you.

    Dear Kim_285,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft community. We are glad to help you.

Since Ctrl+Home is used to focus the cursor to cell A1 and we couldn't repro the same error on our side, we would like to confirm the following information:

1.If only this file had the issue? What's the file formatting? .xlsx or .xlsm

2.If you copy and paste the content to a new created workbook, will this issue remain or not?

Since both online and desktop version Excel have the same scenario, we think the issue may related to the file content, please try the steps above and we will help you figure out.

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation! Hope you keep safe and healthy always.

    Sincerely,

    Sean | Microsoft Community Moderator
