Sharepoint Refreshing Saving

Hello,

I have been having a consistent problem with SharePoint not being able to save my updates to a file that other users are also in.

Background of what I am using this for:

We use SharePoint to schedule production for our panel line. I get data from excel and then need to paste it into my production schedule which is in SharePoint. My production/shipping and others are in the document updating what jobs they ran that day and making comments about production issues for orders. To schedule the panels I need to do it in the desktop app rather than the browser version. This is because it is way more user friendly and certain keystrokes and pasting, and just availability of functions aren't super good (sometimes when highlighting rows even if I put the cursor at the bottom of the screen it doesn't go down and things like that). So I open it in the browser version and then click the open in desktop app. I am the only one that uses the desktop app, everyone else uses it in the browser.

The very first thing I notice is that I get this message at the top of the screen when opening the document in the desktop version and the browser version.

I paste all the new orders in. Sometimes it saves and sometimes it doesn't. I always hit the refresh button. Often times though the document just gets stuck like this.

It will sit like that (trying to save for hours) until I finally give up and just try to close the document. In doing that, I get the following message.

I end up having to restart and do it all over again... Is what I am trying to do not a capability of SharePoint? I have it in other files too that multiple people are working on all at the same time.

Is it because I am in it on the desk top version and everyone else is in the browser version?

Let me know if you have any suggestions or tips on how to fix this!

Thank you!

    Dear Blake 21,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, please let us cooperate and please don’t worry, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation.

Per you error message "your file wasn't uploaded because your changes can't be merged with changes made by someone else.” this may happen occasionally if someone uses an Excel feature that is not fully supported in Excel co-authoring yet.  This can stop the co-authoring process temporarily. So, the way of users to open this workbook may not cause this error. It probably relates to the Office desktop version of users’ end. For your reference: Collaborate on Excel workbooks at the same time with co-authoring

At present, we suggest you click "Save as copy" to store all the changes and go to SharePoint Online and modify the original files manually. However, we would like to troubleshoot this issue for you.

1.Does the issue happens on all files or a specific one?

2.What is your Office version: To check version: Open Excel>File>Account>Product Information (Please mask your private message for protecting your private message)

3.Are you using OneDrive sync client app on your machine.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Sincerely,

    Waqas Muhammad
