Footnote Misalignment

Hi,

I was working in excel today and went to print some stuff out but the footers are all misaligned (everything was working fine last week). I worked through trying to diagnose the problem but cannot find a solution.

Here are some notes:

  • My excel and computer are both up to date
  • I've turned my computer off and on again
  • I've reinstalled office
  • This issue only impacts me (people who open the same file don't have this issue)
  • This problem only happens when I have a photo in front of text (misalignment still happens when I have a picture in the left, center, or right footer sections)
    • If I put a space between the photo and text, it only slightly raises the footer text
  • I don't think it is an issue with how I print the files (I deleted and reinstalled all printers and XXX to PDF stuff)
  • My margins are unchanged between the two screenshots
  • This happens no matter what photo I use
  • I am in Windows
  • Only text after the picture is misaligned

I included two screenshots of a page preview detailing the issue below. Please let me know if you have any tips!!!

This is the same sheet (and everything else) without a picture in the footer

Dear Eric,

Thanks for writing back to us.

I understand your further concern providing the requested information, the reason we asked for the information because the same file you are having the problem doesn't have any problem on the other devices, so comparing the Excel app version and channel will help us to narrow down the problem whether it's related to specific version and Excel app channel.

The sample file is requested because it will be great for us to test in the exact environment i.e., the similar file and Excel app version.

If possible, please share us the requested information. If not, please compare the Office apps version and channel used on the device where it works perfectly . If the working devices, uses different Office app channel such as Semi-Annual, Monthly Enterprise etc., you can report the behavior to the related development team via adding the feedback in the Excel app and switch the Office apps to same channel where it's working without any issues.

    1. Screenshots of the Excel app Account page at your end and the user end who doesn't have any problem. Open the Excel app> Account> Take a screenshot of the complete page (protect your personal information like email address by masking it) and share it with us.

Not sure what information you are looking for or how the screenshots will help you get the necessary information. As stated, excel is up to date. My Version is 2209 and my build is 16.0.15629.20152.

    1. Is it possible to share the sample problematic file with us as well? If yes, please save the workbook as an another copy and remove the personal information from the copy of the file, then share it with us by uploading it to any cloud location such as OneDrive.

Not sure how helpful that will be. This issue happens with any file I open or create. When people access the same files that I was using, they don't have that problem.

Moreover, please also check whether the problem happens with a specific file or all Excel files.

    See above

    Dear Eric,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per the detailed description shared, we understand the problem facing at your end but during your diagnosis, as you mentioned the problem doesn't happen with the same file on the different users computer, we would like to share the following information which will help us to better understand and move further:

    1. Screenshots of the Excel app Account page at your end and the user end who doesn't have any problem. Open the Excel app> Account> Take a screenshot of the complete page (protect your personal information like email address by masking it) and share it with us.
    2. Is it possible to share the sample problematic file with us as well? If yes, please save the workbook as an another copy and remove the personal information from the copy of the file, then share it with us by uploading it to any cloud location such as OneDrive.

Moreover, please also check whether the problem happens with a specific file or all Excel files.

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,
