I have a manuscript from a client that has a handful of blank pages that can't be deleted. I've tried backspace on them, deleting from the navigation pane, and look at the formatting marks, but nothing works. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

    Hello Katie,

Greetings for the day! I’m an, Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thanks for posting the query here at this forum.

Step 1: Insert page breaks Page breaks tell Word where to start a new page. A manual page break might be making an unwanted blank page in your document.

To see manual page breaks, switch to showing paragraph marks:

    1. Press Ctrl+Shift+8 (⌘+8 on a Mac).
    2. Now you can select the page break and delete it.

To delete a random page using page number,

    1. Click or tap anywhere in the page you want to delete, press Ctrl+G.
    2. In the Enter page number box, type \page.
    3. Press Enter on your keyboard, and then select Close.
    4. Verify that a page of content is selected, and then press Delete on your keyboard.

Kindly verify the details over here -https://support.microsoft.com/office/a5efa26e-6a21-4ac8-81ce-220a46d105a8#ID0EBBD=Blank_page_at_end

If this is not helping, please change the section breaks to a Continuous section break:

    1. Place your cursor after the section break you want to change
    2. Go to the Layout tab on the Ribbon
    3. Click the Page Setup dialog launcher
    4. On the Layout tab of the Page Setup dialog box, click the Section start drop down and select Continuous.

Hope this information would be useful to you. Please feel free to get back if you need any additional info.

The first paragraph on page 51, after the blank page, may have the "Page break before" option turned on, in addition to the Next Page section break shown on page 50. The same may be true on page 53. To check this, right-click in that paragraph and click Paragraph in the menu, then click the Line and Page Breaks tab of the dialog:

Either clear that check box or delete the section break.. You need only one of the two.

If that isn't the cause of the problem, see http://wordfaqs.ssbarnhill.com/BlankPage.htm for other possibilities.

    Hi Katie O,

I’m Gunasekar and we will be happy to help you with your question.

How to delete extra Blank pages in Microsoft word?

Keep the cursor on the blank page and press the CTRL+SHIFT+END keys altogether, All blank pages will be selected, and click Delete.

    That is,

For e.g. If you have 10 pages, and there are only 6 pages used and the other 4 pages are undeletable, Place the cursor in the page 7 starting point, click the CTRL+SHIFT+END keys altogether, All blank pages will be selected, and click Delete.

    8,9,10 pages will be deleted.

How to delete the last blank page?

    (1) On page 7 press the backspace button 3 times on page 7. It should move to page 6.

    (2) If not, at the endpoint of page 6, click the delete key 3 times.

All the empty pages will be deleted.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I’ll be glad to assist you further.

    Best regards
    Gunasekar N
