Automatic backspace while in the VBA code editor ver 16.61.1

Some time ago the cursor started to automatically backspace if I paused typing for a second or two.

I am running Excel for Mac Ver 16.61.1 via a MS 365 Subscription

My Mac is a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)

Current macOS Monterey. But this issue has been around since at least macOS Catalina

I found the July 2018 issue Excel 2016 for Mac VBA automatic backspace, cursor automatically repositions back to end of last word on this site but the two solutions suggested did not solve my problem.

  1. Auto Syntax Check is (and has been) unchecked
  2. I don't have any Add-ins.

Any Idea what I can do to fix this?

    Hi Phil,

I think this has been fixed in the current beta build of Excel. You can wait till mid-July for this fix to be deployed in the monthly update, providing beta testers agree the bug has been fixed.

If you wish to beta test and let Microsoft know whether or not the bug is fixed to your satisfaction, join the insider program.

To send feedback within the Insider program, from the Menu Bar in Excel choose Help > Contact Support or a Feedback option.

Yes i did, turning off Auto-Calculate did the trick. However, this not an optimum solution as now I have to remember to turn Auto-Calculate back on when working in a spreadsheet then back off when in the VBA editor.

Is there possibly a better solution?

    thanx

    Phil

    Dear Phil,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have an issue on Automatic backspace while in the VBA code editor version 16.61.1. Kindly ensure that all forms or reports that have On-Timer Event Procedure are in design view. You may also try to turn off automatic workbook calculation while writing the code. Try to turnoff auto save.

Hope the suggestion can help you.

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation. Stay safe and healthy always.

    Sincerely,
