Exception function in Proofing makes me manually enable correction in each document

Every time I open a document, I have to manually uncheck the 'Don't check spelling/grammar' button via Language, so that I can check my texts via F7.

I tried to solve this through options --> proofing. And I discovered that whatever document I open is shown in the the exception selection bar. I don't want this. I want word to correct every document I make automatically for grammar and spelling errors.

The step that Stefan omitted (based on his screen shot) was selecting "New documents based on this template" instead of "Only in this document." Assuming the document is based on the Normal template, then the setting should hold for all new Blank Documents.

Yeah, I omitted that step and added it later. :-)

Of course, any modifications made to a style and added to a template will only affect future documents based on that template. You may always be left with some documents that are unaffected by the modification (unless you use "Automatically update document styles" in the Templates and Add-ins dialog box, which we don't generally recommend).

In an affected document, look at the settings for the Normal style. Click in a text paragraph and press Ctrl+Shift+S to display the Apply Styles pane. Verify that the style name is Normal. Click Modify. In the dialog box, click Format > Language and ensure that "Do not check spelling or grammar" is cleared. Confirm with OK.

Try the "New documents based on this template" option in the Modify Style dialog box to copy the modified settings to your template. That will only affect future documents based on the template, though.

Note that the two "Hide..." options at File > Options > Proofing are different (see screen shot).

    Dear Stefan,

Firstly thank you for answering me that quickly.

I followed all your steps and I unfortunately still have to uncheck the box in every file that I open.
The problem seems to lay in the following.

If I uncheck the boxes beneath exceptions in options --> proof everything works as it should. But I can't permanently uncheck these boxes, or I don't know how to. Do you know how to?
