Under the calculation option "Automatic except for data tables" does not work. Manual works fine but the Automatic except for data tables does not work and everything keeps updating. the sheet pulls data from S&P IQ Pro. Is there only a specific data type that it is compatible with? Even when creating a data table in Excel itself it is not working. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I suspect you are confused - as most people are - as to what a data table is. It's an array using the =TABLE() formula. Normal tables (whether linked to external data or not) are not affected by that setting.

    Dear Jimmy,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Per the description shared, I would like to summarize your concern i.e., you are working on the Excel workbook and set the Automatic except for data tables as a Calculation but tables are recalculating when there is any change made in the Workbook.

If my understanding is correct, first I would like to convey that when you set the calculation as Automatic except for data tables, the data tables will be calculated only when changes are made to the table.

Since you mentioned the sheet pulls data from another source, I would like to know whether the table connected to the source is updated (the table refreshes from the source workbook) and whether the updated changes are reflected in the table.

If not, I would suggest you record the video of the problem and share the link with us by uploading it to any cloud location such as OneDrive. It will help us to better understand the situation and guide you further.

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Mia | Microsoft Community Moderator
