Mail merge, problems with hyperlinks

When I insert a merge field (Excel data source) that contains a URL it inserts it to me but it doesn't recognize it as a URL. If I use the "HIPERLINK" function and insert the field if the link works, but every time I close the merged Word document and reopen it and update the source data, the hyperlink that appears is the last one that was edited in the document when it was closed, the merge field disappearing, and the same URL appears in all merged documents.

The syntax I use is:

{HYPERLINK {MERGEFIELD "FIELD" } \* MERGEFORMAT }

Every time I open the document, the combined field disappears, leaving only the same URL statically for all the records.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

    See Mailmerge Hyperlink ‘Click Here’ Insertion in the Mailmerge Tips & Tricks page at: Mailmerge Tips & Tricks (msofficeforums.com). Note, especially, the advice there about saving the mailmerge main document before doing the merge and not afterwards.

    After you re-open the document, if you toggle the display of the field codes (ALT+F9), what do you see?
