Chrome browser does not send device information with Windows Account extension installed to CA policy

I am looking at a conditional access policy which blocks access for all devices which are not managed by MDM. The policy is based on a filter, which excludes those which are managed. This works fine for access via Edge but fails when using Chrome. I researched this and found an article to say install the Window Accounts chrome extension. I have deployed this and it is installed ok but still no device information comes through from the device, this then blocking the device.

What am I missing in this configuration?

Thanks

Jacqui

    Dear Jacqui Hurst,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, it seems that only Chrome browser does not send device information which are not managed by MDM. Even you installed install the Window Accounts chrome extension as well. However, it works fine via Microsoft Edge browser.

If my understanding is right, since our category focus on Office 365 products, the problem you encountered is related to Conditional access, to avoid any incorrect information from our side, and to make sure you get professional help, we’d suggest you go to Microsoft Q&A – conditional access, that’s a specific channel to handle related questions. I also did a lot of research on this problem on Microsoft Q&A – conditional access community and find some similar cases there and notice they mentioned Chrome browser does not with the Window Accounts chrome extension.

The reason I ask you to post a thread is that in Answers forum, we have limited resources and very little knowledge about Conditional-access policy

and in Microsoft Q&A – conditional access community, you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Sincerely,

    Waqas Muhammad
