Hi All,

I am really desperate and need help....

Our business team recently switched to OneDrive (sharepoint).

I made a synchronization between the sharepoint and my File Explorer.

However, for some excel files, I've this error :

"we found a problem with some content in <Excel file name>. Do you want us to try to recover as much as we can't ? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes"

If I try to recover, I've this message :

"removed records: named range from /xl/workbook.xml part (workbook)"

I can't recover for each file because it's shared files.

For information, when a make a copy of the file in my local computer (in my C:), I can open the file.

Can anyone help me ?

Thank you so much !!!!

    Dear KAMEL EL,

Good days, thanks for querying in this forum.

From your description, it seems like you sync SharePoint files to File Explorer, when you try to open some shared excel files, an error will pop up, it works fine if you make a copy of the file in the local C disk.

For the situation you encountered, we do understand it has caused inconvenience and apologize for it.

We’d like to help you, we can work together and try to narrow down and resolve the situation.

Based on the error messages you're getting, if you are opening the file from the synced location, we’d suggest you unlink OneDrive sync, delete the synced folder, reset OneDrive and relink sync to redownload the files, see this link for instruction on how to unlink, and relink OneDrive sync.

It is also recommended to copy the file into a new excel and reupload it to SharePoint. When the new file is synced to File Explorer, check if you can open it.

You can also try to uninstalling / reinstalling / rebooting / install all the latest Windows and Office updates, run System File Checker to repair missing or corrupted system files and check if the issue persists.

Kindly follow the steps below to run the SFC tool:

    1. Press Windows key + X, then click Command Prompt (Admin).
    2. In the Command Prompt, type the command sfc /scannow and press ENTER.

There’s a possibility that the issue might be caused by the algorithm. There are some users who had the same issue, please check the following thread: We found a problem with some content in 'FileName.xlsx'.Do you want us to try to recover as much as we can? If you trust the source of this workbook, Click Yes (microsoft.com)

If the problem persists, please provide us with the following information:

    1. A screenshot of your Office Version.
    2. Is there anyone else encountering the same error?
    3. Are the excel files using same template, or Marco?

    Your cooperation is highly appreciated.
