Every time I create a text box the text appears above the text box. This causes formatting issues in my documents. How can I get the text to go back inside the text box please.

Here is a picture of what my text boxes all look like. I have no idea how to fix this.

    Hi Abigail A!

Thank you for writing to the Microsoft Answer Community Forum, I am Shakiru, an advisor and a user like you, and I am glad to be helping you out today.

I can from the image you shared that the text in the text box is not aligned at the center of the box.

    please do this:

    1. delete the text box, Click on insert> select the drop-down arrow on the text box and select More text boxes from office.com> select text box with the name Element Quote: this is more centralized.

However, if that does not fix it:

    • Right-click the text box> Click on More layout option> Then under the position tab: centralized the Alignment, Book layout: center, under text wrapping: select top and bottom.
    • Also, select the text box> click on the Shape Format at the top of the menu ribbon and click on Alin text> then choose Middle.

    Kind Regards, Shakiru

Why are you using a textbox in the first place?

If you want a border around some text, it would be better to insert a one cell table and put the text inside the table.

However, with a textbox, you need to insert the text into the textbox AFTER inserting the textbox itself.

You might also consider using a Frame which has the advantage of being something you can incorporate into a paragraph style.

The screen shot suggests that the text is really outside the text box.

How was the text box created? Are you using a custom template? Or an online template?

A sample document may help us to diagnose this in detail.
