Dear ARH Admin,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

I carefully looked through into your question and did a couple of tests from my SharePoint environment, and I am afraid to convey that as per now, it may not be possible to remove these tool bar options for a document library only for users, and then remain only for owners!

I tested Permission settings, and other view settings, but I didn't find a way out.

For example, if you want to remove Quick edit and Sync option, go to Library settings>Advance Settings, set Offline Client AvailabilityandQuick Editto Noand then clickSave. But this will affect both owners and users! I am so sorry about this current situation. But this can be implemented.

What I recommend you to do now is to send feedback to the Developers Team so that they can know how ideal it would be if there was a way to hide these document tool bar options for document libraries for users, and remain for only Owners.

I completely understand and agree with you. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Microsoft values its customer Feedback, and a lot of features have been suggested by customers. For this to be implemented, I request that you submit your feedback to the Developers Team, by clicking on the Send Feedback button via this link: SharePoint Feedback Portal. Our Product Team is in-charge of the site and they are constantly checking the comments and feedback from our customers. I am sure they will implement this.

As a Workaround, we may decide to set permission, and give those users Read-only permission. This way, a few document library tool bar items will appear, and some of them will be greyed out. For example, "Automate" will appear but it is greyed out. Users can't use it to create rules. Kindly let us do this as we wait on the developers team to implement this.

Thanks for your kind understanding and cooperation. Good luck and stay safe!

Sincerely,

Edwine | Microsoft Community Moderator
