Two-Step Verification Error

I have a Microsoft 365 business account where we use One Drive frequently on Windosws. After months, it started asking for a two-step verification with the Microsoft Authenticator App. I tried to set up the account on the authenticator app, but every time I try it asks for the same verification step. It then behaves as if it is sending a code or approval request to the authenticator app, but this was never set up with one. I cannot get past this point and now have been signed out of my One Drive. How do I fix this problem?

Did you setup another verification method such as Email?

I never set-up the verification methods. That's what is confusing. I have been trying to add it to the authenticator for this reason. But anytime I try to add it or sign in - it sends me to another screen asking to verify with the Microsoft Authenticator app which I can't set up and then it has an alternate for a telephone number that I also never set up.
