Restore deleted default OneDrive folder

I am hoping I can get some assistance on this. We recently changed our company name, therefore we needed to change our domain. In order to get the new one drive domain name show, we needed to unlink the old and relink the new account . This created 2 folders in the AppData one with the old domain name and one with the new.We have been working on the OneDrive migrations moving away from our shared drives.

Here is the problem. The OneDrive folder for the old domain is gone from OneDrive and I can only see the new one. The files were backed up before being moved over but the user still has paths from files pointing to the old domain folder and it no longer exists. I need to retrieve this folder as the user had saved files in there that did not get moved over.

This was around December 16th. If anyone has any suggestions on how to retrieve this folder I would be happy to hear from you.

    Dear Kim,

Good day! Thank you for posting your query in our community.

As per your description, it seems that you have changed domain around December 16th, and need to restore the folder in the OneDrive with old domain.

If my understanding is right, there's a possibility that it can be restored from the cloud service. As forum support, we may not have enough permission and resource to directly check the tenant service from backend.

As the file backup in cloud service only within a short window, in this situation, we'd sincerely recommend you contact your Microsoft 365 administrator, follow steps in this article and try to create a support ticket to contact Online Support. The support team over there has higher permission than us, they can remotely help check the situation on your side, involve more resource to help you do the restore. This would be a more efficient way in handling this case for you.

For reference: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Sincerely,
