Issue with adding an account in the authenticator app in an iPhone 14. The normal process is not working. I've followed all Microsoft articles available. I've also spoken with Microsoft Support, Apple Support, the Best Buy Geek Squad, and my client's support admin. Everyone has told me they can't help and I should check with of those others.

I've deleted and reinstalled the Microsoft Authenticator app multiple times. When I attempt to log into my email account., the QR code always says "No useful data" or "The info in the App is wrong" so I can't move forward.

The Microsoft Support rep asked me to post to this forum and an engineer will respond to me who specialized in this app. I hope that is true.

    Hello Bob,

Greetings for the day! I’m an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thanks for posting the query here at this forum.

I understand your concern as there is an issue with accessing Authenticator app.

Could you please attach a screenshot of the error message? If there are any cache issue, deleting and reinstalling the app would help. Unfortunately it doesn't help in your case.

If you have issues with changing the MFA option, could you please try below steps to disable or remove authenticator app temporarily? You can verify using mobile or email option until this issue is resolved.

    1. Go to Security settings and sign in with your Microsoft account. http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=529561
    2. Under the Two-step verification section, choose Set up two-step verification to turn it on, or choose Turn off two-step verification to turn it off.
    3. Follow the instructions.

It looks like the app that I installed from the App Store may have been fake. I've resolved this by getting into the correct Authenticator app.
