Running Mac on Ventura 13.2.1 My Onedrive was syncing fine, at some point it stopped syncing and displayed the message "Onedrive can't transfer files right now" and underneath "Click here to view sync problems" The problem is that it is not active. If I click on the message nothing happens. How do I solve this?

Thank you for looking at this

Regards

Robert

    Similar issue here.

I used to have OneDrive only sync files on demand, since i had almost no storage on my old Macbook Air with 128 GB SSD.

Now i own a Macbook Pro 16" i9 with 4 TB running on Ventura 13.3.1 (a) (22E772610a). I have the latest mac OS and OneDrive App installed and it was all working, when set to "files on demand".

Since I have enough space now, i wanted to download all the files. I changed the settings, put my mbp next to the router for better wifi-signal (600mbits/s) and let it run for the night. From arount 900GB more than half were downloaded when it all stopped with the same error message and the non-clickable "Click here to view sync problems".

Things I've tried with no success:

    • Restart OneDrive App
    • Restart Computer
    • Reinstall OneDrive App
    • Pause Syncing, Move folder out of OneDrive to local drive, continue syncing
    • Reset OneDrive for Mac
    • Remove/Logout Account from App, login again

As if that wasn't enough, since i've started using onedrive on this new computer (parallel to the old macbook air), Onedrive has duplicated some subfolders (not all), they're simply called "subfolder A 2", "subfolder A 3", etc. and may or may not (!!) contain subfolders and/or files.

    It's a total mess!!!!!

Intereseting enough, after resetting OneDrive for mac using that command in the "Resources" folder, onedrive left me with a huge "archive" folder with half the job done. Instead of using that, Onedrive created a new folder in the user's local storage and started to download all files again separately.

My newest approach is to use files on demand respectively select most folders instead of all. I'll give an update on it.

Anyway: The unclickable error message asking me to click on it to see what syncing problems there are, reminds me of the old days with Microsoft, where 99% of error messages made no sense or ended up in limbo.

*update*: it stopped working at aroung 518gb out of like 900gb. I ran out of ideas... This is outrageous! By the way: How can it be, that with around 600mbits/s of internet speed it takes me more than 24hs to get just half of it done? I mean, theoretically with that speed it should download 600gb in 2hs.

    Thanks Guna,

I couldn't proceed beyond the the first step recommended by you as I noticed that my file were not updated.

I have downloaded a new version of the one drive for Mac but I'm afraid to uninstall the old version as my files are not backed up online.

I don't know how to proceed

    Regards,

    Ini

    Hello

I am Abdal and I would be glad to help you with your question.

It's not recommended to use an ejectable drive for syncing OneDrive files as it may result in syncing issues or data loss. However, it's good to hear that you have a backup of your photography collection.

Regarding the syncing issue you faced, it's possible that there might have been some issues with the files that were not synced. You can try resetting the OneDrive app as suggested earlier and check if it resolves the syncing issue.

Alternatively, you can try syncing your photography collection between your NAS and local HDD, which seems to be a feasible solution for your operational efficiency. Just make sure to take appropriate backup measures to ensure that your data is safe and secure.

    I hope this information helps.

    Regards,

    Abdal

    Dear Gunasekar,

Thank you for your comprehensive answer. The story is even stranger if you consider that I located the local copy of my online Onedrive folder on a removable HDD. It did synchronize many files but then came to a stop as I indicated in my post. All the info I get from Microsoft says that you cannot do this with an ejectable drive (which this one is).

Because this is my precious photography collection (using my 1 Tb on Microsoft as a backup, I do have a copy of the files locally on a NAS (which synchronizes automatically with my Onedrive). I wanted to have another synchronized copy on one of the HDD connected to my Mac for operational efficiency. If that is not possible, I'm going to synchronize between my NAS and the local HDD.

So, it is kind of strange that a lot of files got synchronized before the syncing got stuck.

Thanks again for your comprehensive answer.

    Kindest regards,

    Robert
