Forms stopped syncing to Excel

Hi everyone,

I have run into an issue where my responses stopped syncing into Excel after I did the following:

  1. Open the Excel file containing responses from Forms on the Windows desktop app
  2. Made changes to the Excel file without saving (copying data onto another sheet, refreshing PivotTables on another sheet in the same file)
  3. Made another response on Forms
  4. Saved the Excel file

The response in (3) was not reflected even though I refreshed, closed and re-opened the Excel file several times. The previous time I ran into this issue, any new responses will also not be synced onto the Excel file despite being recorded in Forms and I had to <Sync all responses into a new workbook>

Is there a way to resume syncing the responses without having to use a new workbook and re-do all my PivotTables?

Thanks!

    Dear Rachel,

    Good day!!

I understand your concern and I have tested the behavior with the similar steps at my end, where making the changes to the response’s workbook didn’t caused any problem since we didn’t make the changes to the worksheet where the responses are stored.

Since you mentioned “made the changes without saving the file and submitted the new response”, can you please try to save the responses workbook and make sure the changes are synced to the cloud, then see whether the new responses that are added after saving the workbook is showing in the responses workbook?

If still the same, I believe the problem is caused due to the break of the link between the existing responses workbook and Microsoft Form, and I am sorry to convey that you need to sync the responses to the new workbook.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. Have a good day!!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia
