Excel Office Scripts not available in consumer Microsoft 365 plans

The new 'Record your actions as Office Scripts' feature seems a great new addition to the Excel toolset. But it appears not to be available in the consumer versions of desktop Microsoft 365. Given that this is supposed to be the 'new VBA', it seems a strange decision. What is the rationale behind it not being generally available (ie not for home users) and is it planned to change at some point in the future?

  • Ensure users in your organization have a valid license for a Microsoft 365 or Office 365 commercial or EDU plan that includes access to Microsoft 365 apps, such as one of the following plans:
  • Microsoft 365 Business Standard
  • Microsoft 365 Apps for business
  • Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise
  • Office 365 E3
  • Office 365 E5
  • Office 365 A3
  • Office 365 A5
