Getting a message that the program is not activated. Following steps to activate get us nowhere. Does anyone have a phone number to get a person for technical assistance?

I have a Microsoft 365 Family subscription. One of my sharing users cannot use any of the programs after an update happened a few days ago. He's getting a banner at the top of his screen saying that the program is not activated. He's been using it for almost a year!!! When we click on the activate button and go through the steps to activate, we can't get past the Microsoft sign-in process. We finally found where you put your number in to have technical support call but the representative had such a thick accent it was very difficult to understand him and nothing he told us to try worked. Does anyone have a direct number for customer support. Preferably that would get us to someone in the United States.

    I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're facing, I will be happy to assist in the best way I can.

    Please have your family member log in to his/her Microsoft account https://account.microsoft.com/services?ref=officesupport and see if there are two offices registered.

    Go to the control panel > Programs and Feature and see if there are duplicate Office installed, he/she can uninstall the other Office version.

    1. Restart the computer
    2. Don't open an Office app yet, and try this online repair: https://support.microsoft.com/office/7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b
