I don't know of any program called "Microsoft Mail." Do you mean Windows Mail, the mail program that comes with Windows? There is a separate forum for issues with that.

Who is your mail provider- that is, what follows the @ in your address? If you log into your mailbox using a web browser, what file type does the message have?

    Yes. You are correct.

    Please let me say again...

"Everywhere else it shows as an excel file and opens no problem. this is the only machine where it comes up at a sheet file."

Meaning... On my phone it shows as an xls file, On my gmail web browser it shows xls file, and even on my other computer (Mac Mail) it shows up as an xls file. Microsoft Mail is the only thing showing as a sheet file.

Hi. I'm Brian and I'll try to help.

A file with the extension ".sheet" is not a Microsoft Excel file. Excel cannot open that file type natively. You must use the same program to open it that the sender used to create it. What was that program?

    Hi Jared N,

I’m Gunasekar and I will be happy to help you with your question, I am a Microsoft consumer like you.

We can understand the problem at your end as it affects your work and we’re willing to help you in order to resolve the problem. So, to move further regarding this issue, we would like you to provide the following information:

    1. Do you have Office 365 or excel app to open the . Xls files?
    2. Do you get any error code/message when viewing the files directly from Outlook (Microsoft Mail)?

To open the sheets (Excel files), you will need an excel program.

Because, when you find the attachments in the Mail, you will get the option for download. Download the file and open it from the excel application.

If I missed something or understood wrong, you can give me some more information about the issue you are encountering.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I’ll be glad to assist you further.

    Best regards,

    Gunasekar N
