Hi

Everytime I save a document to be macro-enabled, it asks me to check out the document so i can edit it, how can I stop this function?

It doesn't seem to ask with other documents, which are also macro-enabled, unless the document which it is asking is also open.

the document doesn't open straight away when I click on it on the folder, so I click it again, it asks if I want to put it in safe mode, so i say no, an it opens, I go on to the visual basics screen, but I can't edit it, the document screen and banner comes up (example below), so i click 'check out' so i can edit, so i save as 'check out' but it still doesn't open and asks if to put it in safe mode.

banner:

i hope this makes sense, I have know idea why this is happening but I would like to stop it.

Kind regards,

Dan

Greetings, I am Leon.

Is the file stored in Sharepoint?

It may be stored on a Microsoft SharePoint server, and that the server is configured to require checking out of the document before editing. Checking out a document on SharePoint locks it so that no other users can edit it while you are working on it, and it also creates a new version of the document that can be tracked and compared with previous versions.

To stop being prompted to check out the document each time you save it, you can either check the document out before editing it, or you can configure the SharePoint server to allow editing of documents without checking them out first. However, this would require access to the SharePoint server settings and permission to make those changes.

Alternatively, you could try saving a copy of the macro-enabled document to your local computer and editing it there, then uploading it back to SharePoint once you have finished editing.
