Sharepoint data connection error

Hi,

I have generated a report that is associated with the Power Pivot file, which was created using Power Query. In Power Query, I have merged various Excel sheets. Both the data and the report are stored in a SharePoint location.

I have granted access to a few users for the reports and the data storage location. However, when the users attempt to open the Power Pivot sheet, they are prompted to log in with their Microsoft account credentials. Unfortunately, they receive an error message stating, 'We couldn't authenticate with the provided credentials. Please try again.'

I would greatly appreciate your assistance with this issue. Additionally, I would like to inquire if there are any alternative methods to achieve the same outcome.

    Hi Narayandatta,

Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.

According to the error message, it may be caused by the existing credentials. Please try the following steps, then check again.

    1. Go to Data > Get Data > Data Source Settings > Global permissions > click “Clear Permissions” to clear all permissions.
    2. Please reopen the workbook via File> Open, then refresh the data. The user should see a prompt window. Please select "Microsoft account/Organization account", then sign into the account and check again.

If the problem still happens, please provide more details for us to troubleshoot.

    1. Please provide a screenshot of the error message.
    2. Since the problem only happens to a few users, I want to know if the Office version and product are different from others. You can click File> Account to check the version and product name.
    3. Does the problem happen to a specific file or also happen to other Power Query files?

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Hi Narayandatta,

    Thanks for posting back.

I have tested it on my side (version 2304), but I can't reproduce the same situation.  Since the problem happens to multiple users, to troubleshoot it further, we may need to check your environment. Please contact your admin or IT department to raise a support ticket via Microsoft 365 Admin Center> Support> New service request. That support team there will have the correct channel and resources to view the situation remotely and find what exactly the reason has caused this situation.

    Appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Sincerely,
