I have received an email with the subject "XXXX is your Microsoft Support verification code" and the content:

Microsoft Support requires your authorization to access account information. Please share this verification code with the support representative you are working with.

Support verification code: XXXXX

View this support article (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/contact-support-for-business-products?view=o365-worldwide

) for more information about why you are seeing this email.

*Thanks,*Microsoft Support

I did not request any codes and I do have any contact to a Microsoft support representative. I use password less login and no suspicious activity is shown for the date/time of the email. Apparently someone called Microsoft support. Do I need to worry?

    Hello halvorsen1,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I am a Microsoft user just like you, I hope you are doing well?

You can verify email by its sender. However, I will advise you disregard and delete email since you have not contacted Microsoft or performed any action that will prompt support. It could also be a phishing email attempting to get your personal information.

Emails from Microsoft account team are sent from the address account-security-noreply @accountprotection.microsoft.com

A phishing email is an email that appears legitimate but is actually an attempt to get your personal information or steal your money.

If you receive a phishing email:

    1. Never click any links or attachments in suspicious emails. If you receive a suspicious message from an organization and worry the message could be legitimate, go to your web browser and open a new tab. Then go to the organization's website from your own saved favorite, or via a web search. Or call the organization using a phone number listed on the back of a membership card, printed on a bill or statement, or that you find on the organization's official website.
    2. If the suspicious message appears to come from a person you know, contact that person via some other means such as text message or phone call to confirm it.
    3. Report the message (see below).
    4. Delete it.
