Objective move by only selecting them

I am using PowerPoint not only for presentations but also for graphics. I have the issue that usually, I can click on an object and hover with my mouse over the object's frame until the courser turn into a cross hair. Then I'd click again and would be able to move the symbol / object. Nowadays, I click on a symbol / object and it moves immediately. I am not sure if I hit a couple of hotkeys and turned something on. How to I resolve this and go back to the original selection / moving pattern?

Is there any direct Office support? Calling their number juts referred me to this forum.

No direct support from a giant corporation. What a joke considering that I have to pay for a subscription.
