Adding Gmail to Outlook gives errors

I am trying to add a Gmail-hosted account into Outlook, originally had a JAVA not supported error, changed the REGEDIT and it allowed me to go to the next step, added a password, Gmail asked to select organization or personal account, I selected organization and after another screen, it comes back with an error.

I then tried manual settings, and Outlook had them correct, when I tried again, it is not asking for the password, seems like it already saved it and won't let me change it (in case I mistyped it).

Curiously, I would have never gotten to the organization or personal question if the password was correct, but I still want to double check.

Any idea on what else to try to be able to add this gmail account into Outlook 365?

Did you try a new profile? It sounds like the profile might be corrupt.

You can look at the profile in the registry - check each subkey under this key (assuming the profile is called Outlook) Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Profiles\Outlook\9375CFF0413111d3B88A00104B2A6676

Is the gmail address in any of the subkeys? If so, you can try deleting the subkey it is in - and try adding the account again. Or just make a new profile.

1- I deleted the accounts as recommended, tried again, getting to same screen after selecting Workplace instead of individual account. It is not a password issue,

2- I have also edited REGEDIT

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION

REG_DWORD OUTLOOK.EXE set Decimal and change it to 11001

This fixed the Javascript error message,

3- imap is enabled in Gmail, settings defined by outlook match what my account recommends (993/465)

4- I have validated the security alert with Google that it was me logging in.

5- I am getting a "Microsoft Outlook Test Message" email to my gmail account, so it is connecting, sending a message

However, Outlook is not adding the email to Outlook.

You don't need 2SV for GMail IMAP accounts in the newest versions of Outlook.

I then tried manual settings, and Outlook had them correct, when I tried again, it is not asking for the password, seems like it already saved it and won't let me change it (in case I mistyped it). << You need ot delete it from the registry - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity\identifies - find the gmail address on the right side and delete the key it is in on the left.

You will be asked for the password.

I am using Outlook 365, with latest update (I installed it yesterday).

I have a private email URL hosted in Gmail, and I had it installed in Outlook before my crash, which I am in the process of re installing everything. The Gmail account is setup for IMAP and allows external connections. I do not have 2SV in that email.

Gmail originally sent me an email to verify that someone was trying to log in from my location, so I did, I have tried to add the account since and it gives me SOMETHING WENT WRONG, A-Not you, B-Change settings. 3-Troubleshoot, none of the options solve the issue.

Settings are for imap.google.com etc. as instructed by gmail.

I hope this answers your questions.

    Hello El G,

I'm not sure why you got any of those errors unless you have the gmail account as your Microsoft account and Outlook was confused.

Are you trying to add the account as a POP or IMAP? If you have Outlook 2016 or older or are trying to add a POP account to any version, you need to enable 2 step verification and use an app password instead of your own password.
