Hi, I have created a SharePoint list, where I have a 'Person or Group' column titled 'Approved By' that is set to choose names from a SharePoint group. But the list item returns 'No Result Found' error in edit mode when a name or email address is searched for. Any solution?

    Dear A K M Shamim Faisal,

Greetings! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Per your description, you have a Person or Group column in a SharePoint list, the column returns no result found when a name or email address is searched for.

For the situation you encountered, we do understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.

I'd like to help you, please let us cooperate, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation.

I tried testing in a SharePoint list, the Person or Group column works fine and can return users.

Does the issue happen when you access the SharePoint list from a specific browser? If you try a different browser such as Microsoft Edge, Chrome or Firefox, does it work?

Does a specific SharePoint list have this issue? If you try a different SharePoint list, does same issue still happen?

Do other users in your Microsoft 365 organization have this issue? It helps you check if it's a tenant wide issue.

Look forward to your reply. Thanks for your time and cooperation!

Hope you have a nice day, stay safe and healthy.

    Sincerely,

    Dear Tina:

Thank you very much for your response and the offer to help. Very much appreciated.

As regards your queries, my responses are as follows:

I tried with two browsers, MS Edge and Google Chrome, but the outcomes are the same - the people picker does not work for some SharePoint Groups, that is, the SharePoint team site "Owners" and "Members" which include specific set of people with "Full Control" and "Contribute" permission levels respectively.

I tried with two lists in the same SharePoint team site but faced the same issue.

I am not sure if other users are facing the same and it is not possible to check this at the moment - sorry!

May I mention that the people picker works fine when the 'Person or Group' column is set to choose names from "All Users" of the SharePoint team site but not from any specific groups as mentioned above.

I have created an app in Power Apps to use this SharePoint list data and it faces the same problem.

Hope to have a solution. Thanks again.

    Best regards,

    Shamim

    Dear Shamim,

Thank you for posting back. Appreciate your precious time doing tests and sharing with me the detailed information.

I understand you want to use people picker to choose from SharePoint Groups.

    You mentioned

May I mention that the people picker works fine when the 'Person or Group' column is set to choose names from "All Users" of the SharePoint team site but not from any specific groups as mentioned above.

Does it mean that in the Person or Group column settings, you have set it to allow selection of People and Groups, choose from SharePoint Group, select a SharePoint group, as shown below, but it still doesn't work and you cannot choose any specific SharePoint group?

I did a test from my side and it seems it works for me.

If my understanding of the scenario is not consistent with yours, feel free to point it out, I will continue helping you.

Thanks for your time and cooperation!

    Sincerely,

The issue is that we cannot get sharepoint to list members within the Office 365 Teams group. Yes by these settings we can see the Team Members Group, but not the individuals within the Members Group. How do we make that possible. Do we have to add the members into the Site Members group manually? Or is there a higher permission level we can set to allow the share point list column to search withing the Teams Group?

As further reference to the issue we are having please have a look at this post : Problems Restricting SharePoint People Column to a Specific Group – Cameron Dwyer

There must be a solution to this?
