Problem with Excel when using OneDrive files while switching between Win10 and iOS on an iPad

I have Excel files stored on OneDrive that I access from my Windows 10 laptop and my iPad iOS 14.7.1. However, when I make a change on the iPad and save it I frequently find that it doesn’t upload to OneDrive and says that another user has made a change. Since I am retired their is no other user. There doesn’t seem to be any way to reconcile the difference without retyping the changes. How can I fix this?

I am glad to receive your reply and to know that this problem does not exist at the moment.

As you said, we look forward to your feedback if you experience problems again. At the same time, I certainly hope that there will not be another issue that causes you problems.

Thanks Mavis for the information. This is an intermittent problem and has not appeared since you responded. I don’t think that it has occurred when saving from the PC to OneDrive and it may be when I have made changes on the iPad and don’t save them until I have made changes on the PC so the two files are in conflict. If I find a problem with OneDrive I will send feedback. Thanks for your help.

    Hello HankRand,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I understand how annoying this current situation is. But to better help you, I would like to know if you are changing this Excel file in your PC and saving it, will it sync properly to OneDrive and not report an error?

I would like to suggest you create a new Excel sheet to test it. Upload the created file to OneDrive, then make the changes in your iPad and see if the same problem occurs.

If the problem does not occur with the newly created file, then it is likely that there is a problem with the original Excel file itself, and you can try copying the contents of the original file into the new document and see if there is still a problem.

Alternatively, if the problem does not occur after you change the content in your PC, it is also likely that there is a problem with the OneDrive for iPad application itself. In this case, you can use OneDrive's feedback channel to give feedback on this issue. Microsoft takes every issue from users very seriously and the development team will review the submitted feedback regularly.

If there's anything that's not clear, don't hesitate to let me know.

    Sincerely

Mavis - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
