I don't use this very often, but is there a way to use the Sum 109 rather than the 9 which the dialog box defaults to? so instead of SUBTOTAL(9,H4:H7); have SUBTOTAL(109,H4:H7),

it's not very practical changing manually; I tried to use the SUBTOTAL directly say for each change in column M I want a subtotal of units, how do I tell it where to make the change? ,

Richard.

You can't change what the dialog does, but you can simply use a find/replace afterwards to replace subtotal(9 with Subtotal(109 in the relevant column(s).

    Ahh,
I did think of F / R but did just for the 9 to 109,, which is not ideal if there's a 9 anywhere else,

did not think of using the sub part . Thanks,

    Richard.
