Tied items used to get the lowest rank; now they get the highest as shown below. Is this a bug or inetntional?

score old rank new rank
5 1 1
7 2 3
7 2 3

Off topic (there's no personal messaging here) so I'd ask that the moderators delete this, but not too quickly.

Hi @joeu2004 , I was tickled by your (now deleted) post at

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/why-do-my-spreadsheets-with-downloaded-banking/b67885e8-1957-40a4-b6d1-d328a25eeffa

Did you delete it? or did 'they' delete it? Anyway, should you want to reply there's private messaging at several other forums where I have the same 'handle' as here…

We cannot comment on your results, since you neglect to show us your formulas.

But these are the results that I get with both Excel 2010 and Excel Online (onedrive.live.com).

I do not see a difference. And the results are different from your "new rank" values.

PS.... IMHO, the results from RANK(...,0) and RANK(...,1) are inconsistent. But the point is, they have not changed.

PPS.... If A2, A3 and A4 are 5, 5 and 7, B4 displays 3, and E2 and E3 display 2. That repeats the same "inconsistency" (IMHO); but again, no change between Excel 2010 and Excel Online.

As far as I know, RANK has always behaved this way (and its successor RANK.EQ too).
