SharePoint List Template missing data

I have a team site template that I have saved and use to create new sites regularly (+ new subsite). This template includes a list. This list will be used by various users to enter a response to their specific line items in the list as new sites are created. I really want them to ONLY see their line items. Not the larger list including other line items.

I have tried:

1.) Item level security permissions (Shared with>Advanced) - but permissions don't seem to carry over to the new sites I create.

2.) Creating a column in the template with a "Person or Group" lookup, then adding a Filter using the [Me] perameter. This also doesn't work, lookups don't carry over?

Any ideas?

Jim

    Hi Jocko,

Thanks for your update and sorry for late reply!

I spent some time testing with list template and it works fine. Could you please try to save list as template and apply it on your new site to see if it works?

    Best Regards,

    Sophia,

Thanks for working on this with me. Yes, the processes I tried all work fine in the original site/template. The problems is when I use the template to create a NEW site. Those actions (1 and 2 from my original note) don't seem to carry over to the new site.

How I created and applied the new template:

A.) I create a fairly simple site with a text area, doc library and a list. I went to Site Settings > Save Site as Template. Named it and checked the box to "Include Content".

B.) I went to Site Contents > clicked +new subsite. Named it, selected the template I saved from the Custom tab. Selected Use unique permissions, Navigation=No, No, No.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Hi Jocko,

Thanks for posting this inquiry on our community. I am very glad to help you on it.

I tested with person column on a list and created a filter by [Me] in current view setting. Then I will only be able to see the item that person column is my own account. May I know the details about how did you try this way? Can it work fine before you create a site with template? If yes, may I know how did you create and apply the site template so that I can test further on my environment?

    Best Regards,
