Office apps randomly uninstalled

So... I jumped on my computer today to discover that Excel, Word, and all the other office apps have randomly uninstalled themselves. There are no file associations with the .docx extension etc., and the apps do not appear anywhere in the Add or Remove Programs list.

I'll see if I can reinstall them somehow but I have no idea what's going on.

Had the same issue with my home laptops. Both uninstalled Office365, there was no problem with the licenses. Must have been a pretty widespread issue rolled out centrally as some sort of update. But I found all Office365 applications completely uninstalled.

Reinstalled all apps. But still, now all my shortcuts are gone. Thanks, MS.

Thanks Raymond. I did manage to get them reinstalled. Obviously I know the higher-ups at Microsoft probably will not care or bother to look into why it happened in the first place given the "easy fix," but fortunately the apps are working now.

    Take care.

    Hello Shoelaced,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I am a Microsoft user just like you, I hope you are doing well?

Sorry for the inconvenience. You didn't specify which Office license you have.

If you do not find your Office license installed on your PC, I will recommend you reinstall your Office license and check if this experience repeats.

To install Office from your Microsoft account, find steps below for guidance:

    1. Go to www.office.com and if you're not already signed in, select Sign in.
    2. From the Office home page select Install Office.
    3. Select Install (or depending on your version, Install Office>).
    4. This completes the download of Office to your device. You can now proceed to install Office.
    5. Once you're done installing Office, you can then sign in your Microsoft account associated with this license to activate.
