How do I correct replace M365 licences.

From the old subscription (in grace period) my users have an A1 license with additional M365 Apps.

From the new subscription, they will get an A3 license.

To replace A1 with A3, do I first delete the A1 assignment and then assign A3?

An assignment of both licences is not possible, because of the conflict between SharePoint Plan1 and Plan2. My plan to assign both an then delete A1 is not working.

Right now, all licenses are assigned in AzureAD through a group.

Your linked reference describes the process of assigning or removing a license. I want to replace it.

All new licenses are available as shown in the picture. The group for assigning the license is cloud based.

Following your description, I wont get in troubles first removing all licenses and then assign the new ones.

Maybe I remove first one user from the group - remove his license and try to add the new one before doing it in bulk.

    Hello md4 brm,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Based on your description you want to replace A1 with A3, do I first delete the A1 assignment and then assign A3? if this you issue

Please note that: you don't need to delete the A1 assignment and then assign A3

-First make sure the A3 license is available in your tenant i mean you have subscribed to A3 already

-Then remove(replace) A1 and add A3 to the user

    Important

Licenses that a user inherits from a group can't be removed directly. Instead, you have to remove the user from the group from which they're inheriting the license.

-May i know if the security group is sync from on-premises? this information is important
